DENTISTRY SERVICES

At Aldington Equine Vets we like to do everything we can to help you keep your horses happy and healthy and we believe that effective routine dental care is very important. By having your horses teeth checked on a regular basis, many potential problems can be prevented and others can be detected and treated before they start to cause pain and problems with eating. Because we strongly believe that regular dental check-ups can make a big difference to a horse's wellbeing and longevity, we do not charge for dental checks, so you only need to pay if something needs to be done. We will also remind you when the next check is due. Our vets regularly attend training and refresher courses to keep up to date with the latest techniques and we continually invest in new and updated equipment to ensure we provide the best possible service.

There are many advantages in having your horses teeth attended to by a qualified veterinary surgeon rather than a “horse dentist”. Our prices are comparable to those of fully trained equine dental technicians. If a “dentist” charges much less for rasping, it may well be because their work is inferior. If you decide not to use a vet to attend to your horse’s teeth, we would strongly advise that you choose a registered equine dental technician (EDT). Refer to www.beva.org.uk for a list of approved EDT’s. Any damage to your horse’s mouth caused by an unregistered “dentist” is unlikely to be covered by your insurance.
