VETS & STAFF
The practice consists of five dedicated equine vets backed up by five office staff. Being a small practice, we are able to provide more personal attention to all the horses we care for and our clients will enjoy seeing a familiar vet at each visit and having the telephone answered by a familiar person.
The Vets
David
Aldington BVSc MRCVS |

|
David qualified from Liverpool in 1993 and came to work in Clitheroe where he had previously spent time “seeing practice”. He initially treated all species but always had a special interest in equine work, having owned his own horses before going to university. David finally achieved his ambition and founded Aldington Equine Vets in January 2005.
David has special interests in stud work and preventive medicine. With the ever increasing involvement of AI in horse breeding, veterinary input is more important than ever and David enjoys the challenge of getting mares in foal. Having achieved a prize in preventive medicine at Liverpool, he is enthusiastic about making sure that all the horses and ponies in the practice have a proper preventive medicine plan.

Adam Pawson BVMS MRCVS |
 |
Adam was brought up on his parents livery yard in Scotland and has ridden since he was 7 years old.
He has been involved in arranging local events and previously owned his own horse, a Dutch Warmblood called Bert. Adam and Bert have competed in Eventing as well as other disciplines.
Adam initially came to work for the practice as a locum and we were so impressed with his knowledge and caring approach that we offered him a full time position.

Abbe Kirtland BVSc MRCVS |
 |
Abbe qualified from the Royal Veterinary College and subsequently completed an internship at a busy equine referral hospital on The Curragh, Co. Kildare, Ireland. Abbe’s main clinical interests are foal medicine and gastroenterology and she is currently studying towards her RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice.
Abbe has recently returned from Morocco, where she has been working for the charity SPANA, which provides veterinary care to working animals.
Abbe has been riding horses since the age of 4, and owned her first pony for 15 years. Six years ago, she co-bought an Irish Sports Horse, and on weekends she can be found ambling around the forest with him and her 2 dogs! |

 |
Mariate qualified in Barcelona, Spain in 1998. Since
qualifying she has worked in Ireland, USA, Australia,
Germany and England.
Mariate joined own practice from a practice in Wales
following 5 years of working in her own practice in Co.
Wexford Ireland. Her true love resides in foal medicine,
