Alison Younger - Practice Manager
I come from a hill farming family in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Family and my farming roots mean everything to me, so I knew I would always have rural orientated career not too far from home. I have been very lucky to spend most of my working life working with and surrounded by animals. I have worked in small animal nutrition, retail and customer service as well as on our family farm before we unfortunately had to give up the farm, when we lost all our stock during the foot and mouth outbreak back in 2001.
In 2003 I went to work at Dalehead Vets, a busy mixed practice based up in Settle. Starting in front office my role quickly evolved to equine coordinator and predominantly to supervising Dalehead Lancashire Equine Vets working along side David. Myself and David made an excellent team and when David decided to leave Dalehead and set up his own practice I was given the exciting opportunity to come with him, and have been Practice Manager of Aldington Equine Vets since it opened in January 2005. Despite having to defect from my beloved Yorkshire, I have settled in Lancashire and thoroughly enjoy my job with all its challenges and diversity as the practice has grown and evolved over the years. I am very proud of our practice and the wonderful team I work with.
Being a real people person I especially enjoy customer service and getting to know all our clients and their Horses, Ponies and Donkeys. As well as generally managing all aspects of a busy equine practice, I also make sure that I am in reception as much as possible and still part of the front desk rota so hopefully I never loose that contact. I also particularly enjoy organising the pro active client education side of the practice arranging our annual large Horse Owners meeting, smaller client events and getting as much information out through fact sheets, newsletters and website and facebook for all you guys to soak up.
Out of work I enjoy walking, swimming and dancing, and am passionate about cooking and all things foodie! I am a real home body and love spending time entertaining friends at home and spending as much time as possible with my beloved house bunny Spuggs. I also try and get back up home to Yorkshire and my family as much as possible.
